In this article, we will explore how long a retread tire lasts, so you can determine just how far your investment will take you.
The Lifetime Value of a Retread Tire
Retread tires are built with state-of-the-art compounds that help to resist wear and tear. They are used by truckers with scheduled delivery times, guaranteed delivery times, small package delivery and more. Specific industries that use retread tires include: military, aerospace, education and transportation.
A new tire will last between three and four years, when driven 12,000 to 15,000 miles annually. With proper maintenance and care, a typical retread tire will last same of a comparable brand new tire. Retread tires can be driven in any condition, at any speed a new tire can and perform just as well. The only difference: you save money.
Retread Tires Made to Last
Retread tires are made to last. Here is just an overview of the process that retread tires go through to ensure they meet the highest quality standards.
- Inspection. First, the tire is inspected to locate any visible or nonvisible damage, including embedded debris or nails.
- Buffing. Casings that meet inspection standards have their old tread buffed away.
- Application. New tread application can be implemented in two ways, either pure cure or mold cure.
- Pure Cure. A prepared tread strip is applied to the tire casing with cement.
- Mold Cure. Raw rubber is applied and placed in a mold for tread to be formed.
Tire Recappers uses commercial grade rubber compounds on all our tires, which leads to higher mileage and better wear characteristics.
